Nothing is more important to us here at Ardica than your safety! For that reason, we must inform you that we have issued a recall of a product from our Fall 2009 line. The product is the heating systems in Ardica Enabled garments sold by Ardica, Mountain Hardwear and Sitka.

We are issuing this voluntary recall after discovering that a limited amount of these heaters can overheat and/or cause hot spots which may cause injury. NO ONE has been injured and the likelihood of injury is extremely low.

The garments that may be affected are:

Ardica Insulated Mid Layer
Ardica Insulated Parka
Mountain Hardwear Radiance Jacket
Mountain Hardwear Refugium Jacket
Sitka Dutch Oven Vest

Ardica engineers have detected a very limited number of problems within the three heater panels (Front Right, Front Left, and Back Center) that are sewn into the lining of the jackets. The issues identified in the heater panels could cause overheating and/or hot spots on the heaters. The Moshi Battery Pack which powers these heaters and fits into the zippered sleeve within the jacket poses no hazard and we have seen no evidence of issues with its performance. We are, however, recalling the Moshi Battery Packs as well as garments with heaters. This will ensure that all Moshis in the field will be updated with software that is compatible with the enhanced safety and performance features found in the redesigned heater configuration and in all future generations of Ardica Enabled Products.

Mountain Hardwear Radiance and Refugium Jackets

If you have purchased a Mountain Hardwear jacket, you may return it for a full refund of the purchase price. Fill out the form, and we will email you a FedEx shipping label that you can affix to any box containing the jacket and ship directly to us. If you prefer, we can send you a pre-labeled box for your return. Upon receipt of your return, we will issue you a check in the full amount of your purchase price. Your refund will be processed within 45 days of receipt of your return.

Sitka Dutch Oven Vest

If you have purchased a Sitka Dutch Oven Vest, you may return it for a full refund of the purchase price. Fill out the form, and we will email you a FedEx shipping label that you can affix to any box containing the jacket and ship directly to us. If you prefer, we can send you a pre-labeled box for your return. Upon receipt of your return, we will issue a check in the full amount of your purchase price. Your refund will be processed within 45 days of receipt of your return.

Ardica Mid Layer Jacket and Parka

If you have purchased an Ardica Mid Layer Jacket or Parka, you may return it for a comprehensive repair of the jacket and upgrade to the Moshi software for enhanced safety and performance. New features that you will receive include far more durable construction, faster recharge times, and increased charge hold. We are confident that your repaired jacket will eclipse the high level of performance that you have experienced with your current system. We will email you a FedEx shipping label that you can affix to any box containing the jacket and battery and ship directly to us. If you prefer, we can send you a pre-labeled box for your return. It will take approximately 45 days from our date of receipt to process your repair.
